Welcome to A Branch & Cord!
I want to introduce myself and share a bit more about what we do here at A Branch & Cord. I’m Vanessa Deets — wife, mom of 3 + 2, proud cat mama, SoCal native turned Oregonian, community volunteer, dance lover, and full-time small business dream chaser.
I didn’t know I wanted to be a small business owner until I accidentally became one. Now, I can’t imagine doing anything else. This life is messy, unpredictable, and sometimes a little wild — but challenge accepted. After 5+ years, I’m still all in, and that’s such a comforting feeling.
So, what is A Branch & Cord?
Our name nods to the original form of macrame — cord or fiber (like cotton or jute) knotted and hanging from a branch or piece of driftwood. I started this whole thing in 2020 because I wanted to make myself a wall hanging… and, well, here we are. Today, with a small team of hardworking moms, we create macrame decor, accessories, jewelry, DIY kits, and more.
You’ll hear me use both I and we when I talk about the business — because both fit. It’s me making all the big decisions, but it’s also my amazing helpers who lovingly help craft and bring these products to life. I couldn’t do it without them.
We sell directly to customers on our website, Etsy, and at in-person events — and through wholesale partnerships across the U.S. and beyond. Over 700 retailers have stocked our products in their shops (a number that still blows my mind).
